چکیده
Eubrachyurans, or ‘higher’ true crabs, are the most speciose group of decapod crustaceans and have a rich fossil record extending into Early Cretaceous. However, extant families first found in Palaeogene, particularly Eocene. Unfortunately, fossils many early eubrachyuran groups often fragmentary, only few studies combined extinct taxa phylogenetic context using different optimality criteria. Here, we report dairoidid crab Phrynolambrus sagittalis sp. nov., an enigmatic from upper Eocene Huesca (northern Spain), whose completeness exquisite preservation permit examination its anatomy context. Dairoidids previously been considered among oldest stone crabs (Eriphioidea) elbow (Parthenopoidea), two disparate distantly related living today. Mechanical preparation computed tomography material revealed several diagnostic features that allow detailed comparison with across tree life, test hypotheses about affinities. is genus Iberian Peninsula, represents one crown parthenopoidean worldwide, expanding our knowledge biogeographical distribution during as well their origins, anatomical diversity systematic Understanding disparity eubrachyurans pivotal to disentangling relationships families, interpreting spatio-temporal patterns leading evolution modern faunas.

A new species of retroplumid crab, Loerenthopluma danielae, is described from the Egemkapel Clay Member (Tielt Formation; lower Eocene, Ypresian) at the Ampe sand and clay pit near Egem, northwest Belgium. It is characterized by prominent outer orbital spines, wide orbits and a narrow, spatulate rostrum.
متن کاملThe Oldest Higher True Crabs (crustacea: Decapoda: Brachyura): Insights from the Early Cretaceous of the Americas
Despite the extensive fossil record of higher crabs (Eubrachyura) from Late Cretaceous and Cenozoic rocks worldwide, their Early Cretaceous occurrences are scarce and fragmentary, obscuring our understanding of their early evolution. Until now, representatives of only two families of eubrachyuran-like crabs were known from the Early Cretaceous: Componocancridae and Tepexicarcinidae fam. nov., b...

A new genus and species of goneplacid crab are described from the Loyalty Islands and Fiji in the western Pacific. The new genus can be distinguished from the other 17 genera of the Goneplacidae sensu stricto by a carapace that lacks anterolateral teeth together with moderately long orbits and eye peduncles.
متن کاملNeoliomera moana, a new cavernicolous species of xanthid crab from the Marquesas Islands (Crustacea: Decapoda: Brachyura).
A new crab Liomerinae, Neoliomera moana sp. nov., is described from the Marquesas Islands, based on three specimens collected by hand at the entrance of submarine caves at depths of 6-28 m. Within the genus the new species belongs to a group of six species that have the carapace cristate on the anterolateral margins. It can be recognized by the presence of a double crest on the upper margin of ...
